FAQs

The Space

  • We are located above the Tourist Information Centre, 301 Victoria St (beside HUB Insurance and Pharmasave).

  • Absolutely! Contact us to arrange a time to tour the space with a volunteer - email: info@revelstokeideafactory.ca

  • We are now open 7 days a week, 6am to 8pm, but only to members fully certified in equipment use.

  • The building entrance is through the side door to the left of the building. Once you’re a member you’ll be given lab access via an app that you can download on your phone. Scan at entry points to the building and the lab.

  • Entry to the building is via the side door - for classes and workshops there will be someone there to let you in. Please call 250-837-5345 if you have any trouble!

  • At this point, no, but possibly in the future as we expand our operations.

  • Yes. We have an elevator and low workbenches. If you have any questions please email us: info@revelstokeideafactory.ca

  • We do. The elevator is located on the ground floor entry foyer.

  • Front of house parking is reserved for Pharmasave and Visitor Information Centre customers only. Please park on Campbell Avenue or surrounds.

  • We do not allow the consumption of food in the lab.

  • We love dogs too, but this space is too small to accommodate animals. Service dogs, of course, are the exception and are allowed in the space.

  • Yep. There is a bike rack located at the front of the building.

 

The Equipment

  • 3D printers and scanner, laser cutter and more. Check out the full list.

  • Yes, you do. Each make and model has its own specifications and idiosyncrasies.

  • No. You must be a member and complete the prerequisite tool training before you can use our equipment.

  • No. Our tools are free to use with a membership.

  • Yes we do. We charge $70 an hour (plus materials) for design and printing though our Hire-a-Maker service. If you have an idea you want to prototype, we’d love to hear from you - send us an email info@revelstokeideafactory.ca

 

Members & Non-Members

  • Members must be at least 16 years of age. We offer super affordable student memberships :) Parents/guardians are required to complete your membership waiver if you are under 19 years.

  • Yes! As long as you have a membership and they are at least 8 years old, you can bring kids up to the age of 15 for free, but they must be accompanied by an adult at all times and are not permitted to operate the equipment unassisted.

  • Members must undertake a safety orientation session (free as part of membership) and tool-specific training before you can access equipment. See the Join Page on our website.

    Tidy lab = happy lab. Members are expected to clean the workspace after use and put reusable materials and tools back to their original location.

    What you bring in, you bring out. There is no storage space at RIF.

  • Late membership cancellation fee: Memberships cancelled after payments have been processed, will be subject to a 25% cancellation fee.

  • That’s awesome you’re at this point! While we’re not set up for commercial production, email us at info@revelstokeideafactory.ca for scaling options. We’re here to help.

  • Yes, you can, but only one guest per member.

  • Unfortunately, no. This is a small space that we must keep clear of clutter for member safety.

 

Programs & Classes

  • We use Stripe for our point of sales (Visa and Mastercard). Unfortunately we cannot accept cash at this time.

  • We have plenty of kids’ programming to get your kids creating. Visit Youth Programs page.

  • Absolutely. We are planning on adding classes and workshops over the coming months.

  • Payments for classes are refundable up to 72 hours prior to the start time of the class, minus a $15 cancellation fee and Stripe processing fees (2.7% + C$0.05). After this time, refunds will not be issued. Refer to our Class Cancellation policy for details.
